Community Ascension Project: Official AMC Statement

AMC Statement on the Community Ascension Project

In the fall of 2021, the Community Ascension Project (CAP) hosted a series of workshops at the Marlow Profile in southwestern New Hampshire, with the mission of creating a collaborative and inclusive environment for participants to learn about crag stewardship and development. The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) supports this mission and the positive outcomes of the project.

In early November, concerns about the project were brought to the attention of CAP organizers, stakeholders, and AMC staff. Since November, CAP organizers have worked to correct misinformation, welcome community conversations, listen to those concerned, and incorporate experience gained to improve the future of the project.
