2026 Rock Program Knots and Logistics Night

We will hold Knots Night on Thu, Apr 2nd from 7:00-9:00pm. The event will be in-person at the AMC Headquarters located at the Offices of RMS, 80 City Square in Charlestown.

Directions, Transit, and Parking

The entrance is under the big arch. Once you come into the lobby you will need to sign in with the building.

If you are traveling by T, the closest stop (about a half-mile away) is Community College on the Orange line. There are also some bus options.

If you are driving, there are some parking garages in the area. On-street parking is possible but a little tricky. Be careful about meters that turn into resident-only parking after 6pm or 8pm.

For more information, please see this guide to transit and parking near the RMS offices.

If You Plan to borrow gear...

Please arrive fifteen minutes early if you plan on borrowing gear (helmet, harness, carabiners, and/or belay/rappel device) from the program.

what to bring

If you know how to put on your harness correctly and how to tie in with a rewoven figure-8, then you don't need to bring anything to Knots Night.

If not, or if you are a little rusty, please bring your harness to Knots Night.

What To Expect

After everyone has checked in, received their packet and book, and borrowed any gear they need, there will be a short introduction to the program. We will discuss the logistics of the program weekends, go over the program rules and guidelines, and answer any questions you may still have.

Next, we will break up into small groups. There will be some groups for folks who are new to climbing (or those who are a little rusty) where we'll go over the basics of the climbing harness, tying in to your harness, and knots. The rest of the groups will just go over the knots that you need to know.
