2018 Rock Program Knots Night

We will hold Knots Night on Wednesday, March 28th from 7:00-9:00pm at the new AMC Headquarters located at 10 City Square in Charlestown.

Directions, Transit, and Parking

The entrance is directly across from the north side of City Square Park, next door (to the left) of Legal Oysteria.

You will receive an email with a temporary access code (to enter on the lower small black keypad) which will get you in the front door Take the stairs or the elevator to the second floor where the main meeting room is located.

If you are traveling by T, the closest stop (about a half-mile away) is Community College on the Orange line. There are also some bus options.

If you are driving, there are some parking garages in the area. On-street parking is possible but a little tricky. Be careful about meters that turn into resident-only parking after 6pm or 8pm.

For more information, please see this guide to transit and parking near the AMC HQ.

If You Plan to borrow gear...

Please arrive fifteen minutes early if you plan on borrowing gear (helmet, harness, or carabiners and belay/rappel device) from the program.

Also make sure to bring a check for the gear deposit!

what to bring

If you know how to put on your harness correctly, how to tie in with a rewoven figure-8, and how to belay, then you don't need to bring anything to Knots Night.

If not, or if you are a little rusty, please bring your harness to Knots Night.

What To Expect

After everyone has checked in, received their packet and book, and borrowed any gear they need, there will be a short introduction to the program. We will discuss the logistics of the program weekends, go over the program rules and guidelines, and answer any questions you may still have.

Next, we will break up into small groups. There will be some groups for folks who are new to climbing (or those who are a little rusty) where we'll go over the basics of the climbing harness, tying in to your harness, belaying, and knots. The rest of the groups will just go over the knots that you need to know.
