One Day Advanced Skills based on the techniques found in Falcon Guides New Book The Mountain Guide Manual with author Marc Chauvin
Saturday June 8, 2019
Sunday June 9, 2019
Join Marc for a 1 day clinic on new and advanced rope systems for climbers. This clinic focuses on efficient rope managing skills. Are you finding that your rope skills are slowing you down? Are problems like switching leaders in a party of three causing tangles and taking far too long? Are transitions to rappelling in parties of three causing confusion and seem too tedious? Marc has taught guides through the AMGA program how to deal with these situations and has adapted guiding techniques to help climbers be more efficient.
These skills also will help you be more efficient and do a better job of risk management if you climb with less skilled folks. If you lead club trips or climb with your family and you’re the go to leader of the party these techniques will aid you in your responsibility and help you protect yourself better as well. This is a great clinic to take before or after learning self rescue and will give you insight on how well trained guides are able to move their parties so well.
The class is $75.00, Inclusive of guide’s gratuity

Wilderness First Aid
The WFA course offered by the AMC will teach you how to deal with common medical incidents and accidents that occur in the backcountry. It stresses safety, preparation, crisis avoidance, and the treatment of problems such as blisters, sprains, hypothermia, heat disorders, protection from the elements and more. This course provides an important level of understanding about recognizing and treating medical emergencies or injuries and also discusses long-term patient care, a reality of backcountry travel.
The WFA is a 16-hour course and can be used to re-certify a WFR level of training. CPR certification can be obtained for $35.00 during the course, re-certify for $15. Please inform the staff at Mohican if you desire this training prior to course start date. Course Schedule >
