The AMC Boston Chapter Mountaineering Committee will offer the 2019 Ice Climbing Program this winter. This program teaches waterfall ice climbing and technical mountaineering skills. We focus on the equipment, techniques, and practices that are useful on the mountains and crags of New England as well as ice climbing areas worldwide. Prospective students should have rock climbing experience and some winter sport experience (winter hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, etc.). The program will begin with a free informational lecture at Arc’teryx Newbury Street (352 Newbury Street, Boston, MA) on Monday, December 3rd at 7:00pm. Attendance at the first lecture is mandatory. Students admitted to the program will then attend follow-up meetings on Mondays, Jan. 7th and Feb. 4th, at Arc’teryx Newbury Street, and two weekends of instruction in the White Mountains on January 25-27 and February 8-10. Accommodations, Saturday evening dinners, and the use of ice tools and group gear are included in the program cost. Other gear is the responsibility of the student. Tuition is $315 (AMC members) and $375 (non AMC members). Please visit www.amcbostonclimbers.com for full details, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
